Who can attend the Montana Backcountry Immersion?Anyone! This event is open to the public. You don’t need to be a veteran or have prior survival experience—just a willingness to learn and push yourself.

How do I purchase a ticket?Tickets go on sale May 9th at 5 PM. You can purchase them through the link on our website. Space is limited, so we recommend securing your spot early.

What does my ticket include?Your ticket covers expert instruction from survival specialists, training in multiple disciplines, access to camp facilities, group gear, food, and one hotel stay on the final night. You are responsible for personal gear and travel to and from Great Falls international airport.

What is the refund policy?All ticket sales are final. Due to the nature of this event, we cannot offer refunds. However, tickets can be transferred to another person if you are unable to attend.

Where does the event take place?The training takes place in the Montana backcountry. Exact coordinates and logistics will be provided to registered participants.

What gear do I need to bring?A full gear list will be sent to participants upon registration. Expect to bring essential survival items, outdoor clothing, a sleeping system, and basic tools.

Will gear be provided?We will have almost everything you need. We have shelters for your first two nights on the event and sleeping bags. We will provide all the food. You need to bring clothes and a small pack with the items on our packing list (given to registered participants). We recommend layering clothing and to be prepared for any type of weather in Montana at any time.

What kind of clothing is recommended?Layering is key. We recommend moisture-wicking base layers, insulated mid-layers, and a waterproof shell. Sturdy hiking boots are a must. Weather in Montana can change fast, so prepare for rain, cold nights, and hot days.

Can I bring my own weapons or survival tools?Fixed-blade knives and small axes are encouraged as they are part of the training. Firearms are not permitted due to safety and training regulations. You will be provided with bear spray and our instructors will have firearms.

What safety measures are in place?All instructors are trained in wilderness medicine, and emergency protocols are in place. Two certified medics will be on hand at all times. All Instructors will have communication abilities. Everyone will be briefed on arrival for and emergency situation that could be encountered. Participants are expected to follow all safety guidelines provided by staff.

Are there bathrooms or hygiene facilities?No modern facilities. You will learn proper wilderness hygiene and how to maintain cleanliness in the backcountry.

Will food be provided, or do I need to bring my own?All food will be provided from dinner on July 9th through breakfast on July 14th. You are permitted to bring small snacks. It is recommended to also bring your own water bottle (Nalgene recommended).

What kind of sleeping arrangements should I prepare for?You will be provided with all sleeping gear needed. For some of the nights participants will be highly encouraged to make their own shelter and our instructors will be sleeping in shelters they have made as well.

What are the arrival and departure details?Participants will receive detailed travel instructions upon registration. Expect to arrive in Great Falls, MT by July 9th before noon. You will provide your own transportation to the meeting point (given to participants). Once at the meeting point, we will provide all transportation needed until you are returned to your hotel on July 14th (this room is included in your ticket) the hotel shuttle service can be used to bring you back to the airport. Note* you will probably need to arrive into Great Falls, MT on July 8th. If this is the case, you will need to provide for your own lodging that night.

How physically demanding is the event?This event is physically and mentally challenging. Participants should be in good health and capable of hiking with a loaded pack, building shelters, and engaging in hands-on survival tasks.

What happens in case of an emergency?Your safety is our number one concern! Trainers are equipped with emergency communication devices. In the event of a serious injury, participants will be evacuated as quickly as possible. We will have two certified medics on location at all times. We have already communicated grid coordinates for emergency EVAC situations.

Do I need previous survival experience?No prior experience is required. The event is structured to accommodate both beginners and those with advanced survival knowledge.

Can I bring my own camera or recording equipment?Yes, but keep in mind that there is no power source to charge devices, and environmental conditions may be rough on electronics. Your personal cell phone is what is recommended. If you would like it to have power for the entire event, you will need to bring your own fully charged portable battery. Do not bring anything for charging devices that is larger than you can carry on your person easily.

Will cell phones work at the event?Cell service is extremely limited to non-existent. The focus of this event is on survival and immersion in the backcountry. Our instructors will have the ability for satellite communication and will be used for emergencies only. Let your family/friends know they will not here from you July 9th - July 14th. Participants will fill out a form for emergency contact information in case of an emergency.

Can I attend if I have a medical condition?This depends on the condition. If you have concerns about your ability to participate, contact us before purchasing a ticket. You should be prepared for physical activity, temperature extremes, and limited medical access.
